School Based Mental Health Services

“Vermont has a long history of providing mental health services to students in our schools. This important work has been done through preventative models, intervention for specific diagnoses, special education services, 504 services, Educational Support Team services and other models of supports. “ (Report on Act 64 of 2013)

The following is a list of services/providers most commonly found within Vermont public schools that are provided through the Designated Agencies within a school district/ supervisory Unions catchment area:

  • School-Based Clinicians/ School Social Workers
  • Behavioral Interventionist Programs
  • Behavior Specialists
  • Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA)
  • Student Assistance Program (SAP) Counselors
  • Autism Services

Success Beyond Six:

"Vermont has been actively developing its partnerships between mental health, education, and students and their families under the Success Beyond Six fiscal mechanism since its official start in December 1992.
