About Adult Mental Health

Vermont’s vision is that adults have access to mental health services that promote mental wellness and enhance recovery.  To achieve this vision, The Department of Mental Health:

  • Oversees mental health agencies to provide adult mental health services accessible to individuals in their local communities;
  • Oversees mental health agencies to provide individualized treatment services and supports that address emotional and psychological distress;
  • Recognizes that earlier interventions can promote earlier stabilization and reduce or eliminate risk factors that may inhibit personal recovery;

Our mission is to provide effective services to adults in psychological distress, creating meaningful support systems and connections within their communities.
