River Valley Therapeutic Residence (RVTR) is a 16- bed secure (locked) residential facility that will be located in Essex, Vermont.
RVTR serves adults with severe mental illness transitioning from a Level 1 Psychiatric Hospital setting or from the Department of Corrections. The facility supports individuals who are not yet ready for discharge into the community but who no longer require acute inpatient psychiatric care.
The focus of care would be a is a provision of psychiatric rehabilitation services and psychosocial treatment delivered in a recovery oriented, trauma informed, person-centered, holistic environment. This program offers residents the opportunity to reengage with the community, according to their own goals, hopes and dreams. Emphasis is placed on establishing broader community connections and eventually transitioning to a more permanent and less restrictive living environment.
