Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental Health Awareness Month (MHAM) was established in 1949 to increase awareness of mental health and the importance of well-being. It serves as a platform to not only to celebrate journeys of recovery but also to bring awareness of challenges encountered by millions experiencing mental health struggles across the nation. The MHAM campaign is committed to dismantling stigma, amplifying support networks, fostering public education, and advocating for policies that prioritize the well-being of individuals and families affected by mental illness.

DMH Mental Health Awareness Month Newsletters

Every year in May, DMH releases newsletters to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month. These newsletters spotlight the outstanding work of staff and community partners in the mental health field and provide practical tips for self-care and well-being. They also detail the mental health services and resources accessible to Vermonters and offer guidance on how to access them effectively.
