S.133 Public Meeting
Now that S. 133 has passed the Department of Mental Health will be taking lead on several sections related to requirements of an “Analysis, Action Plan, and Long-Term Vision for the Provision of Mental Health Care Within the Health Care System”. To begin we will primarily focus on Section 3 and Section http://legislature.vermont.gov/bill/status/2018/S.133 by hosting two full day meetings on July 25th and August 17th to discuss several sections of the Analysis with an initial report due September 1, 2017.
We will be meeting in Waterbury and will break the day down into topic areas in which you can choose to participate in as many as you would like. We will begin the section by reviewing the relevant language, highlighting any current work or work to date, any data we have and opening the conversation up to “questions, ideas or suggestions”. The meetings will be facilitated, call-in option available and notes will be taken and provided to all. In general, the day will proceed as follows:
For adults, children and adolescents:
8:30-10:00 General data, Emergency Department data regarding reasons for referrals, what effects wait times, and challenges to discharge, anticipated demographics
10:00-11:30 Barriers and gaps in services and what is needed to hire and maintain staff
11:30-12:30 Lunch on your own
12:30-1:30 Regional care coordination and DMH’s care team
1:30-3:00 Crisis Diversion options and models
3:00-4:30 Mental health parity, geriatric psychiatric and forensic psychiatric
There will be separate meetings on the other topics included in S.133.
Please note - You must RSVP by July 15 to Jennifer.Rowell@vermont.gov or 802-241-0137 so we have an idea of the number of people attending so we can provide the information to the security desk! It will be very challenging to get into the building if you have not RSVP’d.
