Background Information about Prospective Board Members
Ron is a teacher at the Compass School in Westminster Station, Vermont. He became involved with NAMI VT through attending the Family Support Group in Brattleboro. He is currently a Family-to-Family teacher, and is eager to join the NAMI VT board in an effort to give back what NAMI has given him and his family.
Debra is a graduate of the University of Vermont and Syracuse University, and is a proud 7th generation Vermonter. Teaching has been her passion for the last 35 years. She currently teaches English at Milton High School. She says that, "NAMI's Family Support group and Family-to-Family course were very pivotal in my journey with family mental health issues. I hope to be of some service to the organization that served my family so well."
Carol is an accountant in Chittenden County. She looks forward to bringing her financial expertise to benefit NAMI Vermont.
Ruth Kennedy Grant, M.D.
Ruth Grant is a recently-retired general internist who graduated from the UVM College of Medicine in 1977. After completion of her residency at MCHV she started a private practice in Vergennes, VT and later became the physician at Middlebury College. Most recently she worked as a Medical Reviewer at PKC Corporation, a producer of medical decision-support software.
Ruth took the Family-to-Family course in 2003 Since then, she has become a NAMI member, and a Family-to-Family & Provider Ed teacher. She is also a member of the Advocacy Committee and named Advocate of the Year in 2008. She also served on the VSH Steering Committee and presents on the topic of psychiatric care at venues including the UVM College of Medicine and legislature.
Ruth lives in Waltham, VT with her husband Win and is the grandmother of 2-year-old Adeline.
